Vase no. 2 is a celebration of transformation, vitality, and creative awakening. Painted on a distinctive ceramic vessel whose rounded form reminded me of the initial swelling of a flower bud, the piece embodies the quiet anticipation that exists just before something beautiful unfurls.
The vessel itself was discovered in a charity shop, where its unusual shape immediately captured my attention. I was drawn to its potential and felt compelled to transform it through my artistic language. What began as an act of restoration gradually became something more personal. As the patterns emerged and the colours intensified, the piece began to mirror my own creative journey.
During its creation, I found myself reflecting on growth and becoming. Much like the form of the vase suggests a bud on the verge of blossoming, I was experiencing a renewed confidence in my identity as an artist and in the value of my work. The act of painting became an expression of that unfolding - a moment of embracing possibility rather than hesitation.
Vase no. 2 stands as both an object and a metaphor - a celebration of hidden potential realised, of beauty discovered where it might otherwise be overlooked, and of the courage required to open fully to one's own creative voice. Its vibrant presence brings a sense of joy and renewal to any space, while carrying within it a story of transformation, resilience, and growth.
